-
Apply "Ceriguard" lens protection tape to the lens in
the conventional manner
-
Block lenses giving max. coverage using 117 degrees
F. alloy
-
Generate dry using a 20 mesh plated diamond wheel or
single point cutter feeding the lens at maximum 0.4 / 0.5mm per cut with
a final cut of 0.1mm (An extractor unit should be fitted to the
generator to remove dust and chips of polycarbonate).
-
Chamfer the edge of the lens to remove loose
particles and wash thoroughly before surfacing.
-
Use high speed surfacing equipment for fining and
polishing, preferably with a direct cold water supply running to waste
(for fining). Recirculation through a chiller and filter
(Thermaguard) is satisfactory only
on the second and third steps. During the first step slurry must run to
waste or scratches and swirls may be created. If no chiller is available
change water frequently and add a little defoamer/surfactant.
-
For polishing, use RAPIDE plastic lens polish,
ideally chilled to 55 degrees F. or less.
-
After polishing de-block and wash with a water and
detergent solution and blow dry. Never touch polished surfaces with
fingers or any dry materials.
-
Hard coat the lenses as soon as possible to reduce
the risk of surface damage. Tint lenses after hardcoating if required.
